Boat Ignition Seal

Electrical devices and water do not mix well. A lock manufacturer solved this dilemma in a marine ignition switch with the assistance of Molding Solutions. The solution is in the "Ignition Boot", a part made of 50 durometer Nitrile rubber (Buna N), which covers the ignition switch, to keep moisture from entering, while allowing the insertion of the starter key through a slit in the part. The system, utilizing the qualities of Nitrile, seals the ignition key slot, while allowing for insertion of the key.

Microphone Shock Mount

Imagine trying to protect an instrument so delicate that it is affected by simple sound waves and yet must be used (and abused) hand held. One such instrument is a microphone, often passed from hand to hand, dropped, or shocked in one of various ways. One manufacturer solved this problem with the use of soft rubber shock mounts, made by Molding Solutions. These parts, small gaskets of special design, work together to secure the joining of parts of the microphone, and protect the electronics from shock when dropped. This product is made of Butyl Rubber - a copolymer of iso-butylene and isoprene - because of the vibration and shock dampening characteristics of the polymer.

Bang! It was the mother of all potholes and based on the noise you heard, you are now sure that your wheel is going to fall off. This feeling of fear is something that your automaker never wants you to experience. A solution to this problem is to place a soft material at the point where metal strikes metal when the suspension spring "bottoms out." Molding Solutions has been providing molded silencer rings for use by several top quality automakers . Made of flexible polyurethane, the rings act as insulators and reduce impact and friction noise. Polyurethane is noted for its high abrasion resistance.
